100 engaged or about-to-be engaged couples will participate in Albert’s Diamond Dash at 3:00pm, Sunday, September 12, 2010. Couples will be racing to find a $20,000 diamond engagement ring which will be hidden somewhere in Wicker Park, located at the intersection of Rte. 41 and Ridge Road, Highland, Indiana. All proceeds from Albert’s Diamond Dash, a wedding scavenger hunt, will benefit the National Multiple Schlerosis Foundation, Indiana State Chapter. The public is invited to come, watch, and cheer on the lucky couples.
Gary and Shar Miller, owners of PROMPT Ambulance Service, are proud to announce that the Indiana Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Commission has chosen Ronald J. (Ron) Donahue as Indiana’s Dispatcher of the Year. The recognition, which was open to all Police, EMS or Fire Department dispatchers throughout the state, was presented at the Indiana Emergency Response Conference held recently in Indianapolis.

Dedicated to her strong will and charismatic personality, the Lynn Sage Foundation was founded by her family, who have been raising funds for breast cancer research for over twenty years. Dedicated to finding a cure, the Lynn Sage Foundation, a world-class philanthropic organization, is proud to announce its third annual Chicago’s In Good Taste campaign in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Beginning October 1, 2010, Chicago’s In Good Taste campaign will commence and run throughout the entire month.
To foster a spirit of goodwill and help make the world a brighter place, American Girl is introducing Shine On Now—a new charitable initiative that harnesses the collective power of girls to help others in need. Through Shine On Now, American Girl is calling on girls across the country to help the company give up to $1 million in clothes, books, dolls, and money to the following four organizations: Kids in Distressed Situations, National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions, National Wildlife Federation, and Save the Children.
Dr. Karen Venditti of the Northwest Indiana Literacy Coalition recently spoke at the International Reading Association 23rd World Congress on Reading, held July 12-15 in Auckland, New Zealand. The title of the presentation was “Put Your Nose in a Book — Politicians, pre-schools, businesses and more have joined forces to promote community literacy via a red nose initiative.”
The Kiwanis Club of Munster honored two Munster High School Seniors with scholarships at a recent meeting. $450 scholarships were awarded to Lindsey Kitchell, daughter of John & Diane Kitchell, and Katherine (Katie) Palmer, daughter of Perry and Beth Palmer. Both had been previously selected as Munster Kiwanis Students of the Month.
