HKCO’s 80 players will perform on traditional Chinese instruments in a Western orchestral configuration. The program will feature works from the ensemble’s repertoire ranging from classic Chinese music to contemporary works, plus an interactive surprise. The New York Times says, “The timbres and colors were wondrously unfamiliar and alluring…It was as fascinating to see the orchestra as it was to hear it.”
This concert is one of only two U.S. engagements this August, the other being at Seiji Ozawa Hall in Tanglewood-Lenox, Mass., Aug. 21 at 8 p.m. These U.S. performances are part of the ensemble’s 2019 international tour.
