Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts surpassed its $60,000 fundraising goal during its Summer Launch Party on Friday, May 22, generating critical support for its 2026 Professional Summer Season. Funds raised will help bring five productions to the Wagon Wheel stage this summer: Cats, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel, Footloose, Dial M for Murder, and Cole Porter's Anything Goes.

The celebratory evening brought together donors, patrons, volunteers, and community supporters for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience featuring surprise performances by members of the professional company, backstage tours, a fireside chat with Artistic Director Scott Michaels, and a champagne toast led by Wagon Wheel leadership and longtime supporters, including OrthoWorx Vice President of Operations and Engagement Allyn Decker, Wagon Wheel Board President Sea Grandon, and Vice President Heather Reichenbach.
A highlight of the evening was a live fundraising auction led by Board Member Travis McConnell, where attendees directly sponsored production needs ranging from wigs and costumes to artist housing and other essential summer season expenses.
The successful campaign comes at a pivotal time as Wagon Wheel prepares to welcome up to 45,000 audience members from all over the country throughout the summer while continuing its mission of producing professional theatre, nurturing young artists, and enriching the cultural life of the region.

“Wagon Wheel changes lives,” said Sam Engle, Communications and Donor Relations Coordinator of Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts. “I've seen it happen over and over again. I've watched kids discover confidence for the first time on our stage. I've watched artists go from the Wagon Wheel stage to Tony-nominated Broadway leading roles. I've watched families build traditions here that span generations. I've watched complete strangers walk through our doors and leave feeling connected to something bigger than themselves.”
Engle continued, “We need people to buy tickets. We need people to bring friends. We need people to share our posts online. We need advocates. We need people who believe in the arts enough to financially support them. And if anyone has ever wondered whether their support actually matters here, let me answer that right now: it does. More than they'll ever know. Our work is never done, but this moment is one of gratitude, celebration, and a renewed commitment to the people who make everything we do possible.”
The 2026 Professional Summer Season begins June 4 with Cats. Tickets and additional information are available at wagonwheelcenter.org.
