The Northwest Indiana Symphony and conductor Kirk Muspratt conclude the 23-24 season with “Romeo & Juliet,” one-night only, Friday, May 10 at 7:30 pm at the Auditorium at Living Hope Church.
The romance and tragedy of Shakespeare’s famed couple, Romeo and Juliet, comes to life in two different musical interpretations. Tchaikovsky’s overture-fantasy features a well-known love theme that has been used in many movies and television programs. Prokofiev’s ballet, composed in 1935, features actors Erika and Ryan Morrison narrating excerpts from Shakespeare’s text.
“These magnificent composers present Romeo and Juliet with music that is the height of romance,” Maestro Muspratt said. “This is the eternal story of true love.”
Maestro Muspratt will host a pre-concert discussion before the concert beginning at 6:15 pm to talk about the history and nuance of the pieces to be performed. The guest artists will also join the discussion. This talk is free to all ticket holders.
