IDNR Community and Urban Forestry is partnering with the State Budget Agency (SBA) to host a webinar about how to apply for our community and urban forestry grants. The webinar will be focused on how to access and navigate the application portal, and IDNR staff will be available to answer specific questions related to grant projects as well.

Grant applications are currently open to fund community & urban forestry projects throughout Indiana, with a total of $474,793 available in funding. 

Administered by the Indiana DNR Community & Urban Forestry program, this funding is available through the USDA Forest Service Urban & Community Forestry Program.
Application Deadline: September 11, 2026
Notification of award: October 12, 2026

Community & Urban Forestry Assistance (CUFA) grant

  • Minimum $1,000-Maximum $30,000
  • Projects may include inventories, management plans, tree plantings and more. 
  • Small Town Big Trees
  • Minimum $500-Maximum $5,000
  • Only communities who have a population of 10,000 or less are eligible for this grant. 
  • Projects may include inventories, management plans, tree plantings and more.
