Costume Designer Ruth E Carter with Academy Award

Ruth E. Carter is one of the most renowned and celebrated costume designers working today having designed more than 40 films over the course of 3 decades and winning Oscars for Best Costume Design for her work on Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. At Chicago Humanities, Carter will be joined by Jacqueline Stewart (Director and President of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures) for a conversation exploring the passion for history that inspired her period pieces and her journey into Afrofuturism, as well as what it's been like working with such film legends as Denzel Washington, Eddie Murphy, Chadwick Boseman, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong'o, and more.

A book signing will follow this program.
