The world premiere Lyric commission Proximity: a trio of new American operas, opens March 24, and is poised to be one of the most talked-about events of the year. On March 20, you’re invited to join legendary playwright, now librettist, Anna Deavere Smith, renowned composers Daniel Bernard Roumain and Caroline Shaw, and celebrated director Yuval Sharon for a panel conversation, presented in collaboration with the Chicago Humanities Festival.

This group of creators will discuss how Proximity addresses some of society’s greatest challenges: connection in a tech-driven world, the devastating impact of gun violence, and respect for natural resources. This program will include performances of excerpts from Proximity by countertenor John Holiday, baritone Lucia Lucas, and soprano Whitney Morrison.

The event begins at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 20 at the Epiphany Center for the Arts. Tickets are $25, and as a member of our Lyric family, you save $5. To access the offer, select "General Public" tickets from the dropdown menu, select your ticket quantity (up to 2), then click "Add to Cart" and proceed to checkout. On the cart page, click "Have a promotional code?" and type LYRIC5 in the promo code box.
