June 17, 1884 Tri-State College opened in Angola. Originally named for its location in Indiana and its proximity to Michigan and Ohio, the school is now known as Trine University.
June 13, 1893 Antoinette Leach was granted the right to practice law by the Indiana Supreme Court, becoming the state's first female attorney.
June 14, 1936 President Franklin D. Roosevelt was in Vincennes to dedicate the George Rogers Clark Memorial. In his speech, the President said that Clark "saved for us the fair land between the mountains and the Father of the Waters."
June 11, 1988 The Indianapolis Zoo opened in its new location at White River Park. It had moved from its original site in Washington Park.
