May 25, 1825 William Digby, a river boatman and adventurer, established a new town on the Wabash River. He called it Lafayette.
May 25, 1993 Sextuplets were born to Becki and Keith Dilley of Indianapolis. The first sextuplets to survive in the United States, all six graduated from high school with honors.
May 27, 1851 The Indiana State Board of Agriculture was organized with Governor Joseph Wright as President.
May 31, 1917 The Indiana State Flag, designed by Paul Hadley of Mooresville, was officially adopted by the State Legislature.
