Date:
Sat, 09/28/2019 - 10:00am to 2:20pm

Class is designed for the beginning-to-intermediate level student. Previous experience working with pastels is helpful, but not required. Students are asked to bring sketches or multiple photos to use as sources for a landscape painting. (Please bring personal photos, no commercial/published photos.)

The workshop will start with a discussion of the use of photos, thumbnail sketches, preliminary studies, value studies, and the initial blocking in of the painting. This will include a demonstration by the instructor, Mary Ann. Students will then have time to work on their own paintings with one-on-one assistance and some group review of the works in progress.

A half hour lunch break will be provided. Students are welcome to bring a sack lunch or step out.

As for materials, there will be a limited amount of pastels and papers available for beginning students who would prefer to try pastels in the workshop before buying a set. A supply list will be provided to students upon registration. The cost of the workshop is $90, with members of the Art Center receiving a $20 discount.

The Chesterton Art Center is located at 115 S. 4th St., Chesterton, IN 46304. For a full list of adult classes, please see the website at www.chestertonart.com
