Chicago Fire FC will play its final two games of the 2020 regular season this week, as the team continues its push for a berth in the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Chicago Fire FC (5-9-7, 22 points) and Nashville SC (7-6-8, 29 points) each scored a goal in the first half to earn a 1-1 draw on Saturday night at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. Chicago remains above the playoff line with two matches to go (at Minnesota and vs. NYCFC). 

As a result of the Chicago Fire’s appeal, an Independent Review Panel, consisting of one representative from the U.S. Soccer Federation, one representative from the Canadian Soccer Association and one independent representative nominated by the Professional Referee Organization, has unanimously rescinded the one-game suspension and accompanying fine for the red card defender Francisco Calvo received in the 37th minute of Chicago’s match against the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday.

Major League Soccer today confirmed that multiple clubs will finish the season without playing the full 23 scheduled matches due to disruptions from Covid-19.  As a result, qualification for the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs will be determined by points earned on a per match basis, or points per game.
