The Schaumburg Boomers built an early lead and did not relinquish the advantage in scoring a 3-2 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies on Sunday afternoon at Wintrust Field to take two-of-three in the key series and pull within two games of first headed into the final week of the season.

Chicago Fire FC (8-9-8, 32 points) fell 3-0 to the Los Angeles Galaxy (6-10-7, 25 points) at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday night.

The Schaumburg Boomers set the single game record for attendance for the third time this season as 7,914 were in attendance at Wintrust Field to witness a 7-6 defeat at the hands of the Gateway Grizzlies. The Boomers also set the single season attendance mark with four home dates remaining, breaking the mark of 210,115 set last year.
