Fargo-Moorhead 3 Chicago 2

Manny Boscan and Jordan George went back-to-back with homers in the first as the Redhawks (55-36) opened a huge weekend series with a 3-2 win over the first-place Dogs (57-33) on Friday night.  Chicago would answer those two Fargo-Moorhead runs with a run in the fourth on a Grant Kay sacrifice fly and tied it in the fifth on Michael Crouse’s RBI double.  But Dylan Kelly’s RBI single in the sixth proved decisive as the Redhawks bullpen delivered three hitless innings of relief.

Milwaukee 9 Kane County 3

A six-run second inning broke a scoreless game open, and the Milkmen (54-37) closed the north division gap with a 9-3 win over the Cougars (41-49) on Friday night.  In the second inning, Milwaukee got six runs on four hits and added two more in the third and another in the fourth inning.  Brandon Chinea, Nick Anderson, and Mark Karaviotis each hit solo homers for Kane County in the loss.

Kansas City 6 Houston 3

Darnell Sweeney hit his eighteenth homer and drove in two as the Monarchs (61-30) beat the Apollos (15-75) 6-3 on Friday night.  Sweeney’s solo homer opened the scoring in the third, and Kansas City added four more in the fourth on four hits in the inning to blow the game open.  Jake Matthys carried a shutout into the seventh before Houston’s Ian Yetsko launched a three-run home run that accounted for all his teams runs.

Lincoln 8 Cleburne 7

Drew Devine delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth as the Saltdogs (48-43) rallied from a 7-3 eighth inning deficit for an 8-7 win over the Railroaders (49-41) on Friday evening.  The eighth inning two-run rally saw Edgar Corcino single home Skyler Weber and Devine drive home Corcino.  In the ninth, trailing 7-5, Lincoln rallied as Weber had a sacrifice fly and Corcino singled home the tying run, leading to Devine’s game-winner.   D.J. Peterson homered for Cleburne in the loss.

Gary SouthShore 16 Winnipeg 9

A nine-run eighth inning turned around a deficit as the Railcats (35-56) scored twelve times between the seventh and eighth innings in beating the Goldeyes (47-42) 16-9 on Friday night.  The rally began in the seventh, as trailing 8-4, Gary got three runs courtesy of a two-run double by Thomas Walraven to close the gap to one.  In the eighth, the Railcats erupted for nine runs on nine hits to take the lead for good.  Deon Stafford and Kevin Lachance each homered for Winnipeg
