Chicago 8 Gary SouthShore 6

K.C. Hobson hit his 20th home run of the season and the first-place Dogs (53-32) got past the Railcats (33-53) 8-6 on Saturday at the U.S. Steel Yard.  After a T.J. Bennett single tied the game in the seventh for Chicago, Anfernee Grier broke the tie in the eighth with a single and Bennett added insurance with a single of his own.  Michael Woodworth launched his first homer of the year, a solo shot, for Gary SouthShore.

Kansas City 5 Milwaukee 4

Despite managing only three hits for the game, the Monarchs (58-28) used two home runs to edge the Milkmen (51-34) 5-4 on Saturday night.  Ibandel Isbel launched a two-run second inning shot for the early 2-0 Kansas City lead.  After Christian Correa launched a game-tying solo homer in the sixth for Milwaukee, Darnell Sweeney responded with the eventual game-winning solo shot in the eighth.

Fargo-Moorhead 8 Houston 2

John Silviano went 3-for-3 with a homer and three runs batted in and the Redhawks (51-35) got 5.1 innings of shutout relief in an 8-2 win over the Apollos (13-72) on Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field.  Silviano’s two-run homer in the second gave Fargo-Moorhead the lead for good, and Manny Boscan added two RBI in the game.  Taylor Zeutenhorst had two hits and a run knocked in for Houston.

Cleburne 8 Sioux City 6

Ramon Hernandez and Chase Simpson each homered as the Railroaders (45-39) got by the Explorers (44-42) 8-6 on Saturday night in large part thanks to four shutout innings of relief.  Sioux City had a five run third inning, including a three-run homer by Seamus Curran, but Cleburne responded with a three-run fourth and five-run fifth, including D.J. Peterson’s go-ahead two-run double.

Lincoln 3 Sioux Falls 1

Kyle Kinman threw five shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out six, as the Saltdogs (46-39) won a pitchers’ duel, 3-1, over the Canaries (34-52) on Saturday night.  A Ryan Long sacrifice fly gave Lincoln the early lead before Skylar Weber crushed a solo shot in the fifth for a 2-0 lead.  Trey Michaelczewski cut the lead in half with a solo shot in the seventh for Sioux Falls, but a Yanio Perez sacrifice fly in the eighth restored the two-run cushion.

Kane County 3 Winnipeg 0 (Game One)

Winnipeg 10 Kane County 1 (Game Two)

A complete-game three hit shutout by Kane County’s Jack Fox and a Nick Anderson solo homer was enough for the Cougars (39-46) in game one, 3-0, before the Goldeyes (44-39) responded with a dominant 10-1 win in game two behind a six-run fifth inning.  That inning was highlighted by Tyler Hill’s two-run double with the bases loaded for Winnipeg.
