Art Barn School of Art is excited to announce the launch of its Fall 2025 semester on Friday August 1, 2025 featuring new class offerings, expanded age access, and continued commitment to creative enrichment for learners of all ages and skill levels.

In a major update for the upcoming semester, Art Barn has lowered the age minimum for many adult classes from 18+ to 16+, allowing more young artists to participate in beginner to advanced-level instruction alongside adults. This change reflects Art Barn’s commitment to inclusivity and nurturing artistic talent across generations.

"We are a space that welcomes students of all ages to grow their interest and knowledge in art," said Melissa Washburn, Program Director at Art Barn School of Art. "We have found that there are dedicated and interested teens who are involved in their school's art programs, and are looking to expand their skills through more advanced instruction or different media. By lowering the age minimum for our adult classes, we're not only able to accommodate those young artists, but we’re also enriching our classes through intergenerational learning. Having motivated young people in the classes can positively impact adults, and having experienced adults can provide an additional growth opportunity for young artists."

The Fall 2025 lineup also introduces three new classes:

  • Expressive Charcoal Drawing – Explore the fundamental techniques such as shading, blending, and line work while developing your eye for contrast and composition.
  • Guided Autobiography: Recording your Artist Journey –  Engage in creative exercises and writing prompts on life themes to examine and record the background, inspiration, and future aspirations of your art practice.
  • Beginner Gouache Painting – Learn about the unique properties of gouache, an opaque watercolor paint, through demonstrations and various projects.

Continuing into the fall is the ever-popular, free Art Within Reach program, designed specifically for adults aged 65 and up. These thoughtfully crafted classes encourage creativity, connection, and lifelong learning in a welcoming community environment.

Enrollment for Fall 2025 opens Friday, August 1. Class sizes are limited, and early registration is encouraged. For more information or to register, visit artbarnschool.org or call (219) 426-9009.
