Blue Man Group will welcome colder temperatures this fall and holiday season with an expanded performance schedule at Chicago’s Briar Street Theatre (3133 N. Halsted). The added performances include Blue Man Group Chicago’s first-ever shows on Thanksgiving Day (November 25) and Christmas Day (December 25), bringing louder drummer boys and not so silent nights to Chicago locals and visitors alike this holiday season.
Blue Man Group originally debuted at the Briar Street Theatre in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood in 1997. A dynamic combination of art, music, comedy and technology, Blue Man Group encourages audiences to reconnect with their inner (and outer) child in order to see the world through a new perspective. Three bald and blue men explore today’s cultural norms with wonder, poking fun at the audience’s collective quirks and reminding them how much they all have in common. The show is continually refreshed with new music, stories, custom instruments and state-of-the-art technology.
Other highlights of the expanded performance schedule includes a 2 p.m. performance on Halloween (October 31) and those looking to avoid Black Friday weekend shopping lines can enjoy specially added Blue Man Group performances Friday, November 26 and Saturday, November 27 at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Families can kick off their New Year’s Eve celebrations early with Blue Man Group’s kid-friendly performances at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, December 31. Children ages 12 and under will receive a complimentary gift. All audience members will also receive celebratory New Year’s Eve hats. Other festivities include a “midnight” countdown after the show, and a special performance of “Auld Lang Syne” by the Blue Men.
Blue Man Group will continue ringing in 2022 with an additional New Year’s Eve show at 10 p.m. Guests of the 10 p.m. show will experience a spectacular New Year’s Eve countdown party complete with hats and noisemakers, a performance of “Auld Lang Syne” by the Blue Men and a midnight confetti and streamer spectacle.
