The Schaumburg Boomers scored in seven different innings to score a 17-14 win over the Florence Y’Alls and take two-of-three in the series.

Kyle Fitzgerald homered as the second batter of the day to put the Boomers ahead 1-0. Florence came back with three two-out runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 3-1. Schaumburg took a lead they would not relinquish in the fourth. Kellum Clark and Banks Tolley notched back-to-back doubles to start the inning, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Cole Turney smacked a three-run homer to give the Boomers the lead at 5-3. Two more runs scored in the fifth to push the advantage to 7-3 on RBI singles from Clark and Chase Dawson. Florence scored three times in the bottom of the inning to pull within a run at 7-6. Alec Craig scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and Turney blasted his second homer of the game in the seventh, a two-run shot to make the score 10-6. The hosts drew within 10-8 in the seventh but the Boomers pulled away with three in the eighth and four in the ninth. The Y’Alls did not go away but were unable to overcome the deficit.

Buddie Pindel worked five innings and earned his ninth win of the season, tying him for the league lead. Florence used eight pitchers and the Boomers sent five to the hill. The teams combined for 38 hits. The Schaumburg pitching staff struck out 11 and fanned double-digit batters in all three games of the series. Turney drove home six runs and Dawson finished with four hits. All nine members of the lineup tallied a hit with six recording multiple. The Boomers also drew seven walks and were hit by a pitch on three occasions.

The Boomers (48-36) take Monday off before concluding the roadtrip on Tuesday night at Windy City in the opener of a split three-game series. RHP Derek Salata (5-5, 4.47) is slated to start the opener at 6:35 pm. The team returns home on August 19 for a Business Day Game presented by All About Personnel in the first of a brief two-game stint at Wintrust Field.
