WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Schaumburg Boomers finished a six-game roadtrip with another close late-inning loss, suffering a 5-4 defeat to the Washington Wild Things on Sunday night. Schaumburg finished the roadtrip 2-4 with two walk-off defeats and three losses by a combined total of five runs.

Washington scored twice in the first to take the lead. Anthony Brocato led off the game with a homer against Schaumburg starter Jackson Hickert. Hickert allowed three runs in five innings of work in a no-decision. Kyle Fitzgerald put the Boomers on the board with a solo homer in the third and John Fiorenza homered in the sixth to draw the Boomers within 3-2. Alec Craig gave Schaumburg their first lead with a two-run double in the seventh, a lead that held until Thomas Caulfield notched the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth.

Craig, Fitzgerald, Brett Milazzo, and Chase Dawson all tallied two hits as the Boomers finished with 11.

The Boomers return home for Independence Day fun beginning tomorrow night at 6:30 pm with postgame fireworks as the Joliet Slammers visit. Tickets are available by visiting www.boomersbaseball.com or calling 847-461-3695.
