Lookingglass Theatre Company announces the cast for the World Premiere of Lucy and Charlie’s Honeymoon, a new musical featuring original country music and folk songs, composed and written by Artistic Associate Matthew C. Yee in his playwriting debut. The cast features Matthew C. Yee as Charlie, Aurora Adachi-Winter as Lucy, Wai Ching Ho as Grandma, Daniel Lee Smith as Jeff, Matt Bittner as Gabriel, Doug Pawlik as Martin, Rammel Chan as Peter, Harmony Zhang as Bao, and Mary Williamson as Feinberg.

This is an experience that's equal parts intimate, moving, and funny! Lucy and Charlie's Honeymoon is not your typical musical - it's more like a concert that takes you on a journey across the Midwest with two First Generation Asian American Renegades in love and on the run.
Written and composed by Matthew C. About the Artists
Amanda Dehnert (she/her/hers) (Director) most recently shared composing credit with the amazing Andre Pluess on The Steadfast Tin Soldier; prior to that she was part of Eastland: A New Musical (Director/ Orchestrator), and Peter Pan (A Play) (Director/ Writer). Chicago credits: cocomposing the World Premiere of Shining Lives (a musical) (Northlight Theatre), creating vocal arrangements for Iphigenia In Aulis (Court Theatre/ Getty Villa), both with Pluess, as well as directing Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Chicago Shakespeare Theater), and her original musical, The Verona Project (American Music Theatre Project). In addition to being a playwright and actor, Matthew is a musician, and filmmaker, having contributed multiple short stop-motion films to Lookingglass’ annual gala. Matthew’s short animated film, I Remember Chinatown, debuted as part of Lookingglass Theatre’s 50 Wards: A Civic Mosaic, a series of multi and mixed media pieces that focuses on each of Chicago’s 50 municipal wards.

Aurora Adachi-Winter (she/her, they/them) (Lucy) is thrilled to be working with Lookingglass for the first time. Rammel Chan (he/him/his) (Peter) is a writer, comedian and actor based in Chicago. Wai Ching Ho (she/her/hers) (Grandma) was born and raised in Hong Kong and is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. Her Chicago theatre credits include: Bald Sisters (Steppenwolf Theatre Company) and Night Watch (Goodman Theatre). Off-Broadway credits include Snow in Midsummer (Classic Stage Company); Endlings (N.Y. Theatre Workshop); Henry VI (NAATCO); No Foreigners Beyond This Point (MaYi Theatre Company), among numerous others. Regionally she had worked with A.R.T., Long Wharf, Denver Centre of Performing Arts, Palo Alto Theatre Works, and N.Y. Film and Stage. Film credits include Turning Red, Hustlers, Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and Robot Stories. T.V. credits include all four of the Law & Order series, Only Murders in the Building, New Amsterdam, Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens, and as Madame, she had recurred in numerous episodes of Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Defenders. She is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She resides in New York City and is the proud Nai Nai to 4 grandkids.
Doug Pawlik (he/him/his) (Martin) is grateful to be back at Lookingglass after covering the stunning run of Eastland 10 years ago. Select Chicago credits include: Once, Million Dollar Quartet, Route 66 (Paramount Theatre); Crazy for You (Drury Lane Theatre); I Love Lucy: Live On Stage (Broadway Playhouse), and Cabaret (The Hypocrites). With The Hypocrites, in their adaptations of Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, and HMS Pinafore, he’s performed around the country at The Pasadena Playhouse, A.R.T. in Boston, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and all original runs in Chicago. Daniel Smith (he/him/his) (Jeff) makes his Lookingglass debut. He previously appeared in the Goodman Theatre/ Center Theatre production of King of the Yees at the Goodman Theatre and the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles. Additional Goodman credits include Measure for Measure directed by Robert Falls and the New Stages productions of The World of Extreme Happiness and King of the Yees. Chicago credits include Fugitive Pieces at EX-Pats Theatre Company; Sarah Ruhl’s translations of The Three Sisters, The Lady with the Dog and Sheldon Patinkin’s adaptation of Ivanov, all directed by Joyce Piven at the Piven Theatre Workshop; Roadkill Confidential at Dog & Pony Theatre Company; Never the Sinner at Victory Gardens Theater and the world premiere of Space at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and off-Broadway at The Public Theater. Mary Williamson (she/they) (Feinberg) is an actor, writer, director and artist based in Chicago. They are pleased as punch to be making their Lookingglass debut! Some theatre credits include: Mrs. Harrison (Indiana Rep.), Twelfth Night (Writer's Theatre), The Minutes (u/s Steppenwolf Theatre), Sender (Urbanite/A Red Orchid Theatre - Time Out Best Actor Nomination), Reverb (Red Twist - Jeff Nomination and Broadway World Nomination Best Actress) Engines and Instruments of Flight (The Goodman Theatre), Three Sisters (The Hypocrites), and Hit The Wall (The Inconvenience/ Steppenwolf Theatre). Harmony Zhang (she/her/hers) (Bao) is an Asian American actress originally hailing from Tucson, Arizona. She now calls Chicago home, and recently earned her MFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University, where she appeared in Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play (Maria/Lisa Simpson), The House of Bernarda Alba (Angustias), The Cat in the Hat (The Fish), and The Wong Kids in the Secret of the Space Chupacabra Go! (Violet). Her regional theatre credits include: the world premiere of Hershel and The Hanukkah Goblins (Strawdog Theatre Company), Kentucky (The Gift Theatre), and Tiger Style! (Writer’s Theatre). Her on-camera credits include The Red Line (CBS) and BJ’s Mobile Gift Shop (dir. Jason Park). Marcella Barbeau (she/her/hers) (Lighting Designer) is a New York City based lighting designer and excited to make her Chicago theatrical design debut.
