Chesterton Art Center (CAC) has been awarded an $18,000 grant from Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation to expand their Youth Arts Outreach Program.
This generous gift from Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation will expand CAC’s Youth Arts Outreach Program in partnership with the Duneland YMCA and Duneland Boys & Girls Club. CAC will continue weekly instruction at the Boys & Girls Club and will now be able to serve all five YMCA elementary after school sites simultaneously, doubling the number of young artists served with this important program.
“We've been dreaming of expanding our Youth Arts Outreach Program, and I am beyond ecstatic that this can now become reality. Art is a vital learning tool, and we are pleased to be able to serve so many additional students thanks to this grant,” says Jillian Bridgeman, CAC Program Director.
CAC launched the Youth Arts Outreach Program in 2021 in partnership with the Duneland Boys & Girls Club. In 2022, the program was expanded to additionally serve five Duneland Family YMCA elementary after school sites providing high-quality weekly visual arts instruction during the academic year to students at the partner program sites at no cost to students or families. This gift from Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation will allow CAC to continue to serve the Boys & Girls Club and all five YMCA sites simultaneously, doubling the number of young artists reached.
Youth Arts Outreach offers students the opportunity to engage with creative learning and design thinking with a curriculum that explores art history, STEAM, cultural topics, and various art making techniques.
The Youth Arts Outreach Program supports CAC’s mission of creating accessible, enriching arts programming for the local community and beyond.
