Recently, our Choice Community Council volunteers and many of last year’s National Night Out event volunteers gathered together to celebrate our town’s 2025 National Night Out Celebration’s #1 ranking in the United States by the National Association of Town Watch for our population category of 15,000-50,000 people. For this honor, Munster recently received the National Night Out Cup (pictured below left). We also appreciate members of the Munster Town Council and our Clerk-Treasurer for attending and showing their support.

Community Council volunteers ...

The evening included dinner that was generously sponsored by Don Jesus and Family and The Original John’s Pizzeria followed by desserts provided by Dianne Kowalski, The Pampered Chef and Christina Irvin. The volunteers then discussed possible community policing ideas, events, and initiatives for the new year.

National Night Out Against Crime ...Munster’s National Night Out Celebration is one of thousands that are held in the United States each year to promote positive police and community partnerships through a large variety of fun and educational activities for all ages. Munster’s 2025 event, held last August, experienced our largest participation ever through not only the main event itself on August 5th but also the week of pre-events that included a day of town-wide block parties. Our event is truly a collaborative effort from our first responders, neighborhoods, businesses, schools, community organizations, and faith-based groups in Munster.

Congratulations again to our Munster community on receiving this great honor and thank you again to all of our many volunteers, sponsors, booth participants, and record number of event participants who helped to make our 2025 National Night Out Celebration the best one yet. We look forward to beginning plans for this year’s event, scheduled for August 4th, beginning this spring.

If you’d like to help with planning through the Choice Community Council, please call our Community Oriented Policing Unit at 219-836-6639.
