The Munster Police Department would like to congratulate Chief Steve Scheckel for reaching 35 YEARS OF SERVICE to Munster!
He began his career in January 1989 and served over the years as a patrol officer, shift commander, D.A.R.E. Officer, firearms instructor, and armorer.
In December 2008, he was appointed as our Chief of Police where he has served for the past fifteen years.
Chief Scheckel has twice been honored, most recently in 2008, as the Munster Police Department’s Officer of the Year and has also received a number of other honors and recognition. In addition, he currently serves through several local community service organizations.
