Tippecanoe County – At the request of the Tippecanoe County Sheriff, detectives from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post are investigating a death at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
On August 12, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., jail deputies were conducting a routine cell check when they discovered an unresponsive inmate. Deputies immediately began rendering medical aid. Despite life-saving efforts, the inmate was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office. The inmate’s identity will be released by the Coroner’s Office at a later time.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation by the Indiana State Police Lafayette District Criminal Investigation Bureau. At this time, there is no indication of foul play.
Detectives were assisted at the scene by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office.
