An innovative theatrical work recently starred on stage at Facility Theatre in Chicago.
"Action At A Distance," which featured four actors presenting six plays simultaneously on a 10 foot by 10 foot stage, was a fascinating piece of theater which required audience members to pay super close attention to the happenings onstage and the different stories playing out in front of them.
The work, presented by Theater Grottesco of Santa Fe, was done in collaboration with Fay/Glassman Performance. The play was developed with the help of a grant from the Network of Ensemble Theaters and had its Chicago premiere with this performance.

Actors starring in the show showed their creativity well by taking on multiple characters as well as interacting with various characters in scenes from the other plays that were being presented. It was definitely engrossing and dynamic theater.
The subjects of the six plays focused on an international human rights lawyer and her partner; a family who has to evacuate their home because of a hurricane; a financial mogul dealing with a rock that has smashed his window; a union local who hosts an address by a Venezuelan union leader; a filmmaker who interviews a doctor who was involved with Occupy Wall Street tent camp; and an artist preparing for an installation for the 1948 Palestine Mandate. While they were all very different subjects it was interesting to see how the actors collaborated together especially when the various plays were happening at the same time onstage.

The talented cast featured John Flax, Apollo Garcia Orellana, Elizabeth Glass and Danielle Louise Reddick. To learn more about what's coming up at Facility Theatre, visit www.facilitytheatre.org.
