The Gary Community School Corporation is proud to announce open enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year, serving students from Pre-K through 12th grade. Families are encouraged to act early to secure their place in a district that has nurtured generations of leaders, scholars, and innovators while paving the way for a bright future. The theme of the campaign, "Strong Roots, Bright Future" was announced by Chief of Public and Community Relations Chelsea Whittington at a recent school board meeting and is already being embraced by community stakeholders.

"I wanted a theme that celebrates our alumni and employees while giving a nod to the fantastic work that our scholars are doing now," said Whittington. "Everyone knows the countless great products and success stories that come out of the Gary Schools. Our team is fired up about amplifying this message to the masses while enrolling hundreds of more scholars."

The campaign has a variety of layers including billboards, social media messaging, yard signs, and community events. A new feature is being added this year where current GCSC parents and potential enrollees will receive digital messaging through streaming apps like Disney and Hulu.

In addition, parents of students transitioning from 5th to 6th grade (middle school) and from 8th to 9th grade (high school) are asked to complete an online or in-person survey confirming their intentions for the upcoming school year. This survey has been distributed through the student information platform Skyward and other internal communication methods. This vital step enables the district to plan and prepare for a smooth transition into its next phase of education.

The Gary Community School Corporation offers a well-rounded education, providing opportunities in the fine arts, athletics, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), various student clubs, and other extracurricular activities.

"With a rich history rooted in excellence, the district remains committed to equipping students with the skills they need to succeed in college and their future careers," added Whittington. "By fostering this legacy, we guide our students toward a vibrant and promising tomorrow."

To assist families with the enrollment process, each school in the district has a dedicated F.A.C.E. (Family and Community Engagement) liaison. These liaisons are available to guide you through registration, share parenting resources, and answer any questions parents may have throughout the process.
