The Gary Community School Corporation (GCSC) is excited to welcome students, families, educators, and staff back for the 2026–2027 school year, with the first day of school on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
As the district prepares to open its doors, GCSC looks forward to another year of academic excellence, innovation, and meaningful partnerships with families and the Gary community. District leaders encourage families to take advantage of upcoming orientation and open house opportunities to meet teachers, tour school buildings, and prepare for a successful school year.
"Each new school year represents a fresh opportunity for our students to learn, grow, and achieve their goals," said Dr. Yvonne Stokes, Superintendent of Gary Community School Corporation. "We are excited to welcome our families back and remain committed to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.
