
The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Anthony M. Scott, has announced the promotion of Sergeant Jason E. Sample to the rank of First Sergeant. First Sergeant Sample will serve as an Internal Investigations Coordinator for the Department.
Sample, who is from La Porte County, grew up in Three Oaks, Michigan. He graduated from River Valley High School in 1991 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (reserve). He attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan and earned a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice – Law Enforcement Specialists in 1996. On August 24, 1997, he graduated from the 55th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the Lowell Post.
Sample has served on the North Field Operations Emergency Response Team, the Domestic Cannabis Eradication and Suppression Program as District Coordinator, the Gang Response Investigative Team, Domestic Highway Enforcement Initiative Manager, and as a Polygraph Examiner. He has served the Department as a defensive tactics instructor since 2006.
He and his family reside in La Porte County.
