Porter County- This afternoon (8/9/2024) at approximately 1:20 p.m., the Indiana State Police Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call of an interstate shooting on I-94.
Troopers responded to the 28 mile-marker eastbound, just west of the truck weigh station and east of S.R. 49, where they discovered a Jeep Grand Cherokee parked on the right shoulder with several bullet holes in the driver side. The driver of the Jeep, who was injured as a result of the shooting, was immediately rendered first aid and then transported to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to their lower extremity. Two juveniles that were also in the Jeep were not injured.
The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division at the Lowell Post responded to the scene and is requesting the public’s assistance. They are requesting anyone who may have information or witnessed the shooting, to contact Detective Hamed at 219-696-6242.
