
On April 8, five of Indiana University’s campuses will be in the path of totality for a once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse. As we count down to the big day, here are a few ways to prepare for the total eclipse in your area:

Join IU experts for a series of eclipse-themed livestreams, hosted by the College of Arts and Sciences, that explore a variety of topics—including an astronomer’s perspective on the natural phenomenon, animal behaviors, and photography insights.

IU Bloomington will host a star-studded event on eclipse day, complete with ten-time Grammy Award-nominated singer, songwriter, and actress Janelle Monáe; actor William Shatner, who is best known for his role as Captain Kirk in Star Trek; and America’s first woman of color to travel to space, Mae Jemison.

Hear from IU Public Safety on how to best prepare for the total eclipse, especially in areas with an increased number of visitors, as well as from a doctor with the IU School of Optometry on how to protect your eyes.
