Following his presentation, Professor Clavio will participate in a moderated Q&A session.
Presentation Description: The college athletics world was rocked by the recent news that USC and UCLA are departing the Pac-12 to join the Big Ten. This is the latest unexpected move in a college sports realignment process that has lasted for nearly two decades. In this presentation, Galen Clavio of The Media School discusses how we got to this point, exploring how a combination of television deals, school hubris, and player empowerment has adjusted the college sports landscape. We also discuss the current state of college athletics and how it will differ from the last decade.
