Omar Cooper Jr.'s jaw-dropping, toe-tapping touchdown catch with 36 seconds left lifted second-ranked Indiana to a 27-24 win over Penn State in Happy Valley.
The win is the first-ever for the Hoosiers at Penn State, and also gave the IU program its second straight 10-0 start to a season.
Indiana’s perfect season appeared in serious jeopardy following two fourth-quarter touchdowns from Penn State’s Nick Singleton, giving the Lions a 24-20 lead. But with no timeouts and 1:51 remaining, quarterback Fernando Mendoza led the Hoosiers on a 10-play, 80-yard touchdown drive. Facing third-and-goal, Mendoza escaped pressure and lofted a pass to Cooper in the back of the end zone. The catch was confirmed by the officials on video replay.
The Hoosiers return home next Saturday, Nov. 15, for their regular season home finale against Wisconsin. The game is sold out, but fans can still explore secondary ticket market options such as SeatGeek below.
