Kathryn Bernel, Chair
A violinist who has been a member of the LCSO for many years, Bernel created WHATSNEWLAPORTE.COM in 2009 and currently serves as its publisher. She was a practicing attorney in La Porte with over 25 years of experience. Previously, Bernel served as a reporter for the La Porte Herald-Argus. Bernel now lives in Granger, In.
Leigh Morris: Immediate Past Chair
Morris is a former Mayor of La Porte. He also served as CEO of hospitals for nearly 30 years including La Porte Hospital from 1978 to 1999. He is currently the President-Elect of the La Porte Rotary Club and is an adjunct faculty member of Valparaiso University teaching graduate courses in healthcare for the past 5 years.
Nolah Nasser-Gertner, Vice-Chair
Now retired from AEC Professionals, she is an active community volunteer in Michigan City, La Porte and New Buffalo. Past affiliations include the LCYMCA Board, Michigan City Planning Commission and the MC Chamber of Commerce Board. Nasser-Gertner resides in New Buffalo, MI.
Suzan Wade, Secretary
A long-time resident of La Porte, Ms. Wade is now retired after serving 32 years as the Office Manager for Cannon Automotive. She is an active community volunteer with the La Porte Chapter of Psi Iota Xi as well as with the La Porte Library, Hoosier Star and the First United Methodist Church in La Porte.
Lorri Feldt, Treasurer
Ms. Feldt serves seven counties in NW Indiana as the Regional Director of the Indiana Small Business Development Center located in Crown Point. Previously, Feldt served more than 25 years at Whirlpool Corporation where she held many roles in the areas of sales, marketing management and customer service.
These five individuals will be leading the LCSO Board of Directors comprised of 21 members. The LCSO will be entering its 48th season next fall with Hoosier Star, Drayton Children’s Educational Concerts, three subscription concerts with music director candidates and Holiday at the Pops.
