2023 proved to be a busy year for the Lowell Post as it relates to O.W.I. enforcement (Operating While Intoxicated). The top ten troopers in the district recorded a combined total of 594 arrests for O.W.I. The district recorded well over 600 O.W.I. arrests for the year. Lt. Terry Gose commented, “While I am truly grateful for the effort put forth by our troopers, it is disappointing that this number for O.W.I. arrests is as high as it is. Our district remains steadfast in our commitment to removing impaired drivers from our roadways.”
The Indiana State Police reminds anyone that goes out and consumes alcoholic beverages, or any other means of becoming impaired, to not operate a motor vehicle. There are options available such as ride-shares, calling a friend/family member for a ride, or just simply have a responsible, sober, designated driver. Remember, buzzed driving is impaired driving.
The top ten Lowell troopers for O.W.I. arrests in 2023 are:
- Trp. Joshua Luckey 113 arrests
- Trp. Dennis Griffin 111 arrests
- Trp. Kevin Council 67 arrests
- Trp. Kaylee Galvan 65 arrests
- Trp. Riley Hieb 61 arrests
- Trp. Ben Beers 52 arrests
