Lyric Opera of Chicago is proud to be Chicago’s home for inclusivity and inspiration — a place where our vibrant community can come together and connect through art. Your support of the 2024/25 Season made a considerable difference. We are grateful for your support.

Lyric Opera of Chicago experienced an outstanding year of growth and achievement. Earned revenue rose by $1.2 million, fueled in part by a 4% increase in ticket sales and a significant rise in first-time ticket buyers, who made up 46% of audiences compared to 38% the previous year.

The company received more than $32 million in charitable donations, reflecting the community’s strong support and passion for Lyric’s mission.

The 2024/25 Season also marked the 50th anniversary of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center, a milestone celebrating five decades of nurturing exceptional talent.

Through Lyric Unlimited’s Opera in the Neighborhoods program, Lyric reached 99 schools, inspiring young audiences across the region.

The year was further distinguished by a historic commitment from Board of Directors Vice Chair Penelope Steiner, through the Robert and Penelope Steiner Family Foundation, underscoring the dedication and vision that continue to sustain Lyric’s artistry and impact.

Notably, we completed year two of our Five-Year Financial Plan with a remarkably successful year. Thanks to your support, we met ambitious revenue benchmarks.

Lyric's 2024/25 Impact Report shows how you contributed to the successful season.
