A Message from The Joffrey Ballet

  1. Home

Mon, 06/08/2020 - 3:26pm by laughingcat

The Joffrey is a proud member of Enrich Chicago, a collective of prominent local cultural institutions that addresses racial equity in arts leadership. For a decade, our Winning Works program has funded dozens of talented ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab and Native American) artists, providing them a unique platform to present their art to a wide audience. Our Community Engagement programming extends to 58 Chicago Public Schools, and we continue our participation in The Equity Project, an initiative spearheaded by Dance/USA, Dance Theatre of Harlem and The International Association of Blacks in Dance to increase the presence of dancers of color in ballet.

We know that more needs to be done. We know that a public statement of support is a small element of a much larger undertaking. We know that we need to continue to listen, learn, and grow together. We dedicate ourselves to a better tomorrow.

Sincerely and humbly,

—The Joffrey Ballet
