
Governors State University’s (GovState) The Center for Performing Arts (The Center), 1 University Parkway, University Park, completes its 15th season of Opera Up Close and 29th season overall with a Mother’s Day celebration, Mimosas & Melodies, Sunday May 11 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $50 for on stage cabaret seating and may be purchased by calling 708.235.2222 or visiting CenterTickets.net. Patrons may also make purchases at the box office. Box office hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Thursdays: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and two hours prior to all performances. Discounts are available for students, children, seniors 65+ and groups of 10+. Parking is free.
Audience members are invited to raise a glass and savor the sounds of Mimosas & Melodies, a dazzling performance featuring an irresistible blend of opera, musical theatre, and art song. This special event brings together four exceptional opera singers for a heartwarming and entertaining program celebrating family, love, motherhood and the many flavors of life. From beloved opera arias and duets to Broadway showstoppers and charming novelty numbers, the program is designed to delight audiences of all musical tastes. Mimosas & Melodies offers a perfect pairing of exquisite music and delicious light snacks. A complimentary personalized charcuterie board and mimosa are included with ticket purchase. The on-stage bar is open throughout the performance.

The Center for Performing Arts was founded in 1995, culminating a 10-year quest to bring a world-class performing arts facility to the Chicago Southland. Since its inception, The Center has served more than 1.5 million individuals, introduced over 300,000 schoolchildren to arts-in-education experiences, and welcomed 8,000+ artists and touring companies, presenting dozens of local, national and world premieres.
