In an effort to promote safety in our business districts throughout this holiday season, the Munster Police Department will once again be conducting directed patrols in our business districts. These patrols are in addition to the officers who are on regular patrol.
Officers who are working these extra patrols will be making traffic stops, field contacts, walking through businesses, and checking in on employees in an effort to provide additional police presence and to help keep both employees and shoppers safe. Businesses are encouraged to let their employees know that officers may be stopping in more frequently to check on them and that they are encouraged to let the officers know if they have any ongoing concerns.
Shoppers and employees are encouraged to call 911 right away if any suspicious activity is observed.
