The Olivia Show—A Tribute to Olivia Newton-John & Grease, staring Sabrina Plaisance-Sia, took the Theatre at the Center audience back to the 70s and 80s. Sabrina Plaisance delivered an entertaining tribute that captured the look, spirit, and personality of the beloved singer, Olivia Newton-John.
Plaisance-Sia engaged with the audience, drawing them in with her warm personality. Joining her on stage for a few songs was her talented 9-year-old daughter, who also seems to have a bright singing future. The band, comprised of her husband, who is the drummer and musical director, along with local musicians didn’t miss a beat in spite of playing together for the first time. (An unfortunate power outage just two hours before the show made it impossible for any rehearsal time!)
Numerous costume changes throughout the show reflected memories of the various stages of Olivia Newton-John’s career. The first act of the show featured her many hits of the 70s and 80s from country to pop. Songs included, “Xanadu,” “Let Me Be There,” “I Honestly Love You,” and “Physical.” The second act shifted to songs from the musical, “Grease.” Audience members were encouraged to sing along to such favorites as “Grease,” Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee,” “You’re the One That I Want,” and “ We Go Together.” After the concert, Plaisance-Sia met with the enthusiastic audience in the lobby for photos and conversation.
