Perfect Ending to Regular Season as IU Blasts Purdue

For the first time in program history, Indiana Football has completed a regular season perfectly.

The second-ranked Hoosiers completed that task in dominating fashion, blasting Purdue 56-3 on a cold, wintery evening at Ross Ade Stadium in West Lafayette. With the win, the Hoosiers hold on to the Old Oaken Bucket for a second straight year and finish the regular season 12-0 overall and 9-0 in the Big Ten.

Next up for the Hoosiers? The Big Ten Championship game next Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Depending on the outcome of Saturday’s games, the Hoosiers will face either Ohio State, Michigan or Oregon.

After a slow start had IU leading just 7-3 at the end of the first quarter, Coach Curt Cignetti’s team turned to its ground attack. And from that moment forward, Indiana dominated. The Hoosiers piled up 355 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, highlighted by a 12-carry, 152-yard effort by Roman Hemby. Hemby’s performance included an 82-yard touchdown run in the final two minutes of the second quarter that pushed IU’s lead to 28-3.

As good as IU’s run game was the defense was equally dominant. IU limited Purdue to 44 yards rushing and 282 yards of total offense while keeping the Boilermakers out of the end zone for the second straight season.

Barring a College Football Playoff home game, IU Football will next play at Merchants Bank Field at Memorial Stadium in 2026. Interested in 2026 IU Football season tickets? Provide your information below!
