Spring semester Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) classes have begun at our local public and parochial schools. The Munster Police Department has three certified D.A.R.E. officers who present the program to approximately 2,000 Munster students each school year.
The following grade levels at the listed schools will receive visits this semester:

• Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd Grade Students at St. Thomas More School and St. Paul’s Lutheran School will receive safety lessons during the semester
• 5th Grade Students at Eads Elementary School, Elliott Elementary School, and Frank Hammond Elementary School will participate in the core (main) curriculum of the program, with visits by D.A.R.E. Role Models in April and Graduation ceremonies in May
• 8th Grade Students at Wilbur Wright Middle School who have not receive the secondary curriculum yet this year will participate in that program during the spring
The Munster Police Department’s D.A.R.E. Program has continued to run strong for 38 years (since 1988) thanks to great support from our community. Thank you to our schools, parents, and sponsors for your support of this important safety program!
