Theatre at the Center was rocking with the music of Eliminator: The Premier ZZ Top Tribute on January 24th with plenty of fans of their bluesy sound in the audience.
My friend, Helen, absolutely loved the concert. For me, it was just OK (I’m not a big fan of long, shrill guitar riffs). Even as a ‘non-fan’ I do have to admit, the band members are terrific musicians.

The band includes Ron Schneider on Bass/Vox, his son-in-law David Perkins on Guitar and Kelly Lawson on the Drums. Schneider acted as spokesperson with lead-ins to the song and intros of the other musicians.
ZZ Top fans were thrilled to hear hits like Gimme All Your Lovin’, Sharp Dressed Man, Rough Boy, Tube Snake, La Grange, Beer Drinkers and Tush. For the last few songs of the show, Schneider and Perkins were spinning fuzzy (fur-covered) guitars!

By the way, drummer Lawson played even though he had a torn bicep!
