
In a recent promotion ceremony, Superintendent Anthony Scott announced the promotion of three troopers from the Indianapolis District. These promotions were a result of a competitive selection process including a written test, oral interview, and an overall evaluation of job performance.
Corporal Perry Boykin was promoted to Sergeant, Master Trooper Antwaun Johnson was promoted to Sergeant and Trooper Lim Chol was promoted to Detective.
Sergeant Perry Boykin - District Squad Leader
Sgt. Boykin is a native of Edwardsville Illinois and a 2010 graduate of Edwardsville High School. After high school Boykin attended Southern Illinois University, graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He was selected to attend the 75th ISP Recruit School and successfully completed the academy in November of 2015. He was assigned as a Trooper to the Indianapolis District where he worked until his first promotion to Corporal in 2024. He has served as a Field Training Officer, a member of the Mobile Field Force, a recruiting liaison and a Hostage Crisis Negotiator. He has also instructed several topics at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
In his new role as a Sergeant, Perry will mentor and lead a squad of troopers assigned to the Indianapolis District.
Trooper Detective Lim Chol - Indianapolis District Investigations
Lim Chol is from Nashville Tennessee where he attended Glencliff High School. After high school graduation in 2010, Chol attended Welch College where he majored in College Recreational Leadership and Sports Management, graduating in 2016. In 2020 Chol was selected to attend the 80th ISP Academy. Upon completion of the academy he was assigned to the Indianapolis District. He has served in a key role on the district's Criminal Interdiction Team, leading dozens of criminal investigations resulting in arrests of serious violent offenders. During his time on ISP Chol has served as a Gun Liason on the Indiana Gun Crimes Task Force, a member of the Mobile Field Force and a Field Training Officer.
In his new role as a Detective, Lim will investigate criminal cases in the Indianapolis District.
Sergeant Antwaun Johnson - Employment Services / Recruiter
Sergeant Johnson is a native of East Chicago Indiana and a 1993 graduate of East Chicago Central High School. He attended Ball State University, graduating in 1999 with a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies and Counseling Psychology. He also received a Master of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in 2014.
Johnson graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in 2000 and was first assigned to the Lowell District. During his career he has served on the Indiana Gaming Commission, was a counselor for six ISP Recruit Academies and is a crash reconstructionist.
In his new role, Sergeant Johnson will oversee recruiting efforts in the central Indiana Area as well as assist with hiring process for ISP and other employment services.
