This holiday season, Nowhere Collective invites Chicagoans to an immersive world of transformational creativity and sustainable shopping alongside 35+ local artisans from across the City. On December 10th, spanning Chicago’s Fulton Market and West Town, Nowhere Collective will host the second annual Trashy Holiday Market at Ignite Glass Studios, Patagonia x Worn Wear, and District Brew Yards. By showcasing inventive “Trash Smashers” who turn discarded materials into one-of-a-kind wonders, attendees also imbibe an air of infectious hopeful spirit.

“There’s a growing desire to create more socially- and environmentally-responsible traditions,” said Katy Osborn, Founder of Nowhere Collective, “so we love showcasing this rich ecosystem of small businesses in Chicago offering a joyful way to celebrate that is also good for people and planet.”

At the Trashy Market, discover and shop a diverse array of uniquely upcycled, hand-crafted wares. Plus, engage in hands-on, reuse activities suitable for all ages, including make your own t-shirt tote with Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange and trashy gift wrap bows with Zero Bull Shop. “It's nice to be surrounded by like-minded people who are sustainably-minded. I love seeing what can be done with items that other people consider trash,” said Nandi Duszynski, a regular vendor at The Trashy Markets.

This year, Nowhere has partnered with three mission-aligned locations to expand the range of makers and upcycled goods. The majority of vendors can be found at Ignite Glass Studios, a unique event venue home to a dynamic community for glass artists. For even more festive inspiration, be sure to stop by District Brew Yards around the corner for more upcycling makers, a bite of award-winning BBQ from Lillies, and cold craft brews from 4 local breweries. A mile away, meet many more makers hosted at Patagonia Fulton Market, a “2-in-1” Worn Wear x Patagonia store that also provides a community space for environmental and social justice events. On the Worn Wear side, you can trade in your gear, buy used and repair what you’ve got to keep it in play.
