Sat, 02/18/2023 - 5:03pm by laughingcat

Performing works from his upcoming new release by Blue Note later this year, trumpeter Chris Botti returns to the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) in an  “Evening with Chris Botti” alongside his band and three vocalists 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5. The New York Times says, “Chris Botti has a trumpet sound that suggests the softer side of luminosity, the realm of sunsets and half-moons and low-wattage incandescence;” while The Ottawa Citizen calls him, “a formidable player with a commanding, reverb-drenched tone who clearly loves to match musical wits with his bandmates.” WDCB 90.9FM Chicago’s Home for Jazz, is the Media Sponsor for this performance.

Since the release of his 2004 critically acclaimed CD “When I Fall In Love,” Botti has become the largest-selling American instrumental artist. Botti’s previous albums also include 2012 Columbia Records and Grammy-winning “Impressions” (2012), “When I Fall In Love” (2004), “To Love Again: The Duets” (2005), “Italia” (2007), and the CD/DVD “Chris Botti in Boston” (2009). Botti has also been featured in four PBS specials, most recently, a performance with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra this past August.

Over the past three decades, Botti has recorded and performed with the best in music, including Sting, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Josh Groban, Yo-Yo Ma, Michael Bublé, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer, Andrea Bocelli, Joshua Bell, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and even Frank Sinatra. Hitting the road for as many as 300 days per year, Botti has also performed with many of the finest symphonies and at some of the world’s most prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl to the Sydney Opera House and the Real Teatro di San Carlo in Italy.
