An upcoming free retreat hosted by Community Healthcare System is designed to help women focus on self-care to support a balanced and healthy life.

Empowering Women’s Retreat will take place from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 20 at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road. It will feature a keynote address, breakout sessions, health screenings and exhibits. Registration is required by April 12 and can be made by calling 219-703-2054. All participants must select their breakout sessions at time of registration.

Lamia Katbi, MD, will deliver a keynote address about prioritizing physical and mental health to manage stress. Then, participants may attend two breakout sessions, choosing from the following options:

Breakout Session 1:

A.     Self-care Through Self-defense

B.     Intimate Inquiries: Ask a Doctor

C.      Pocketbook Planning

Breakout Session 2:

A.     Mindful Meditation and Chair Yoga

B.     You Are What You Eat

C.      Cultivating Your Emotional Health

Join other women as you focus on yourself and enhance your personal wellness journey. Participate in interactive sessions to help you center your mind and learn to better prepare for stressful situations. Gain valuable health tips from exhibitors, participate in screenings to find ways to improve your health and take home items that will help with your self-care journey. Free A1C and lipid profiles will be offered (a 12-hour fast is required).
