Chicago-based Transit Tees, an official manufacturer of Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) products that also designs and produces its own Chicago-themed merchandise, is excited to launch the next big thing in transportation games: EL: The Chicago Transit Adventure! Following the runaway success of Transit Tees’ LOOP card game last year, the new EL board game takes players on a train adventure across Chicago to visit all destination points in their hand—filled with events such as a music festival, baseball game, holiday train, pigeon swarm and more, which delay or expedite their journeys.

Incorporating strategy, skill and chance, EL is an easy-to-play board game geared towards ages 13+ and filled with Chicago landmarks and symbols recognizable to longtime residents and tourists alike. It riffs on the joys and travails all CTA riders are quick to relate to, and the featured landmarks—such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Garfield Park Conservatory, Wrigley Field and the Bahá'í Temple—help orient travelers and promote Chicago’s world-renowned public transit system. In addition to train lines, EL players can make use of bus transfers between trains to strategically reach their destinations faster.

EL: The Chicago Transit Adventure retails for $40 and is available for pre-sale online now, with orders shipping on November 25. The game will be available in-store starting Saturday, November 23 at both Transit Tees locations in Wicker Park (1371 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago) and Andersonville (5226 N. Clark Street, Chicago). For more information, visit www.transittees.com or call 773-227-1810.

A free public launch event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 6-9 p.m. at The Den Theatre, 1331 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Guests will be the first to play the new EL board game and enjoy light bites and refreshments from Antique Taco and The Den Theatre, as well as an EL-themed photo booth. RSVPs are suggested, but not required, on Eventbrite HERE.

“Our creative team has been working hard all year to create a transit-themed board game in time for the holiday season,” said Transit Tees Owner and Founder Tim Gillengerten. “Chicago has one of the most iconic and beloved transit systems in the world, and our goal was to capture the adventure of riding the rails and exploring new neighborhoods. In order to win, players must use strategic route planning to make their way across the city, showing off their commuter expertise!”

EL: The Chicago Transit Adventure is locally conceptualized and designed in Transit Tees’ creative studio based in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago and is assembled by manufacturing partners in the Midwest. Some of the game pieces are manufactured with laser cutters in the Wicker Park design studio.

Transit geeks will especially appreciate EL’s technical authenticity: all the transfer points and stations in the board game line up with the CTA system and iconic Chicago landmarks riders encounter during their travels.
