Dear neighbor,

The severe weather our community has experienced over the last few weeks has been devastating, and I want to make sure everyone is aware of the resources available to help you recover.

First, I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to our first responders, public works crews and utility workers who have been working tirelessly since last night’s storms. Their dedication in clearing fallen trees and debris, reopening roads, responding to storm-related flooding, and assisting residents throughout our communities has been invaluable. Your commitment to keeping us safe during these challenging conditions does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your service, professionalism and the countless hours you’ve put in.

I’m also glad to share that our local first responders are stepping up once again to support neighbors in need. The FOP and the Griffith Firefighters Association will be giving out free, delicious food to Griffith residents who are without power. If you or someone you know has been affected by the outages, please stop by:

  • Tomorrow, Friday, June 26, 2026 at 4:00 PM CST
  • Central Fire Station (behind the Griffith Police Department)

Please share this information with your neighbors, friends and family. Not everyone may have power or internet access right now, so a quick phone call or knock on a door could help make sure no one in need misses out.

If you need immediate assistance, please call or text 211 in Indiana, or contact your local public works department for information and support.

Stay safe, and thank you again to everyone working around the clock to help our communities recover.

In service,

Rep. Mike Andrade
