The Schaumburg Boomers homered three times and held off a ninth-inning rally to notch a 7-6 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts and cap a 4-2 roadtrip.

Windy City held leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but homers tied the game on both occasions. Matt McGarry drilled a solo homer in the third and Quincy Nieporte notched his fifth of the year in the fourth. With the game tied at 2-2, Brett Milazzo led off the eighth with his first professional homer to give the Boomers a lead they would not relinquish. Willy Garcia added a two-run double in the eighth while Chase Dawson and Nieporte knocked home runs in the ninth as the Boomers led 7-2. Windy City scored four times in the bottom of the ninth, but Darrell Thompson recorded a strikeout to end the contest.

Schaumburg finished with 14 hits in the game, six of which were for extra bases. Nieporte and Angelo Gumbs recorded three hits each while Milazzo and Garcia each posted a pair. All nine members of the lineup reached base at least once. Andrew Cartier earned the win in relief with a scoreless seventh. Aaron Rozek threw six innings and struck out seven while allowing just one earned run in a no-decision.

The Boomers (11-9) return home on Friday night to begin a six-game homestand full of events beginning with postgame fireworks as well as 90’s Night, presented by Rotary Club of North Chicago. RHP Ryan Middendorf (1-1, 3.57) takes the ball in the 6:30 p.m. contest against RHP Zac Westcott (2-0, 4.39).
