On Saturday, October 21, 2023, the Gary Community School Corporation will host the first-ever "STEM and Treat" event at the Gary Area Career Center, 1800 E. 35th Avenue in Gary from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This fun-filled, educational event is open to the entire community and will include activities specifically designed for children in grades Pre-K through 12.
"STEM and Treat is a creative way to show our school community how laser-focused we are on engaging our scholars in science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities," said Dr. Esther Goodes, Chief of Schools for GCSC.
Community partners and West Side Leadership Academy alumni have signed up to work with schools to provide engaging STEM projects, games, prizes and delicious treats for all ages.
Children can participate in hands-on science experiments while learning about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Parents and guardians are invited attend interactive presentations and other special events that focus on building knowledge of STEM topics.
“This event will give our community partners and alumni a chance to give back and interact with our families and students,” added Goodes.
