The Collection: Where Art Meets Fashion Presents Inaugural Purchase Prize at EXPO CHICAGO

Fashion Outlets of Chicago today announced it will present its inaugural Purchase Prize for THE COLLECTION: Where Art Meets Fashion at the 11th edition of EXPO CHICAGO, taking place April 11 – 14, 2024. 

As part of its ongoing sponsorship of EXPO CHICAGO, Fashion Outlets will present the inaugural Purchase Prize for THE COLLECTION: Where Art Meets Fashion, the shopping center’s multifaceted contemporary art program featuring a collection of curated site-specific artwork. Located throughout Fashion Outlets’ common areas, THE COLLECTION includes 22 large-scale public art pieces by several renowned national and international artists living today, including Derrick Adams, Candida Alvarez, Daniel Arsham, Carlos Rolón/Dzine and more. At the 2024 edition of the exposition, leadership from Fashion Outlets of Chicago, alongside representatives from EXPO CHICAGO, will select an artist and work to join THE COLLECTION. The selection will be unveiled at EXPO CHICAGO on Thursday, April 11, during a special press reception at Navy Pier.

THE COLLECTION: Where Art Meets Fashion is a multifaceted contemporary art program located within Macerich’s Fashion Outlets of Chicago. Combined with the shopping center’s high-end amenities and 130+ designer outlets, THE COLLECTION helps establish Fashion Outlets of Chicago as a premier shopping and cultural destination. Components of THE COLLECTION include a growing number of site-specific commissions by both established and mid-career artists, as well as rotating exhibitions featuring a variety of artists throughout the year.  

Located throughout the common areas of the shopping center are 22 large-scale site-specific commissions. These public art pieces were created specifically for Fashion Outlets of Chicago by many of the most renowned national and international artists living today. The commissions to date include:

  • Anila Quayyum Agha’s “Shimmering Mirage (Red)” and “Descent into Light” 
  • Derrick Adams’ Fashion Show” and “Fashion Accessories”  
  • Daniel Arsham’s “Big Drip,” “Falling Figure,” and “Falling Time” 
  • Bhakti Baxter’s “Circle Spiral (Relax Your Gaze)” 
  • Jim Drain’s “Rakes and Snakes” 
  • FRIENDSWITHYOU’s “Rainbow Wash” 
  • Matthew Hoffman’s “You Are Beautiful” 
  • Cody Hudson’s “I’m Still Here” and “Big Sur Drawing 07 (Ceiling)” 
  • Alvaro Ilizarbe’s “Landscape Study” 
  • Sung Jang’s “Mobi” 
  • Chad Kouri’s “Art For All” 
  • Kenton Parker’s “Out of Line” 
  • Bert Rodriguez’s “Never Forget Where” 
  • Carlos Rolón/Dzine’s “A Grand Love Story (analog love in a digital age)” 
  • Jen Stark’s “Drippy” and “Wormhole”
